The collectiontitled ‘Virtues’ emphasised the folk hues of India. “We drewour inspiration from the Rajasthani folk women in the desert and their fullycovered colourful attire. Gujarati prints and sequences form our inspirationtoo. One would also see a tribal influence in our line,” shared Ashish andVikrant.
Thecollection was a good mix of extremely stylish, ethnic and classy outfits thatfitted the categories of elegant and casual. Both party wears and dresses for anIndian function made an equal impact and were received with an equal applause.
Silhouette: The silhouettes ranged from voluminous dresses to robes, jackets, tunics, skirts and jumper suits with long hanging tassels. We could seea lot of gajji pleated gowns, jackets and contemporaries dhotis and salwars onthe ramp, accentuating the tribal influence.
Known for their works with Indian crafts, the designer trio Ashish, Viral andVikrant presented a mix of Indian handlooms in a deep colour palette. Inspiredby Gujarati and Rajasthani patters, the collection saw the use of Bandhej, whichwas highlighted as the new trend of the season.
The designers emphasised ondetailing of the garments like usage of wool and chord for surfaceornamentation. Use of feathers, especially peacock feather, accentuated thetribal look and made a different appeal.
Black seemed to be the dominant colour of the collection along withindigo, emerald green, deep maroon, blue, lilac and coffee bean brown.
The fabrics used in the collection, mainly targeting global travelers werehandloom silks, cotton silks, along with velvet and mushrooms to add some shineand texture.
This designer duo made a dual use of feathers. One, in their design to bringabout the tribal element and secondly, in the bags and potlis that modelscarried. From high-on-bling big bags to shimmery clutches and typically Indianpotlis in brocade, bags were a huge style statement. “We retail our ownbags parallely and the ones showcased on the ramp form a part of our owncollection,” said the designer duo.
Another noticeableaccessory used by the duo to bring about the folk look were bangles in variedcolours, which many models wore. Metal band around the neck was yet another usedaccessory in this collection.
